The International Water Resources Association (IWRA) is pleased to announce the 2026 Call for Applications for the IWRA Membership Grants, offering individuals from around the world the opportunity to engage with and contribute to the global water community.
Through this initiative, IWRA provides a complimentary 12-month Silver Membership to selected applicants who demonstrate a strong interest and commitment to water resources but may not currently have the financial means to subscribe to membership. The programme aims to strengthen inclusivity and participation across the global water sector by supporting students, early-career professionals, and individuals actively contributing to water-related research, policy and practice.
IWRA Membership Grant applications must be submitted by 30 April 2026.
Expanding Access to the Global Water Community
IWRA Membership Grants are designed to broaden access to the Association’s network and knowledge resources. By supporting emerging professionals and under-represented voices, IWRA seeks to foster a more diverse and engaged international water community.
Recipients of the grant will receive a 12-month IWRA Silver Membership.
Silver Membership is designed for individuals who wish to connect with peers, actively engage in IWRA’s work, and contribute to the global water community. It offers opportunities to strengthen professional networks, enhance visibility, and take on leadership roles within IWRA.
As a Silver Member, you can:
- Receive regular newsletters and updates via IWRA’s mailing list
- Participate in Task Forces and Chapters
- Access most “members-only” content through the IWRA portal
- Access Water International
- Vote in IWRA elections
- Lead or serve on a Task Force or Chapter Bureau
- Stand for election to the Executive Board
- Lead or propose webinars and policy briefs outside of Task Forces
- Access exclusive content for paying members
- Promote your activities and publications through the IWRA network

Eligibility and Selection Criteria
How to Apply
The Selection Committee will prioritise applications from individuals who meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Students and early-career professionals working in water-related fields
- Individuals currently holding an active IWRA Bronze Membership
- Applicants who have been actively engaged in IWRA activities
- Candidates contributing to gender and geographic diversity within the IWRA membership community
Previous recipients of an IWRA Membership Grant may reapply up to two additional times.
