2nd Islands Water Congress: Jamaica 2026

We are delighted to announce that the 2nd IWRA Islands Water Congress will be held in Montego Bay, Jamaica, from 9–11 December 2026.

IWRA made the announcement during the Closing Ceremony of the XIX World Water Congress in Marrakech, Morocco, 5 December 2025, counting with the presence of Peter Clarke, Managing Director of Jamaica’s Water Resources Authority (WRA), following a week of dialogue on global water priorities – issues that hit island communities first and hardest.

The Islands Water Congress is IWRA’s dedicated global forum on freshwater challenges and solutions in island settings. It brings together island governments, practitioners, researchers, and communities to exchange experiences, advance practical solutions, and elevate island-led perspectives within wider water dialogues.

Hosting the Congress in Jamaica recognises the country’s leadership in addressing freshwater management challenges, especially in the context of increasing climatic pressure. Overall, the event will highlight islands’ roles as sources of innovation, resilience-building, and context-driven approaches that can inform water action in both island settings and beyond.

We will share further details on the programme and participation opportunities closer to the event. For more information: https://islandswatercongress.org
