International Union for the Conservation of Nature Academy of Environmental Law Colloquium

The University of Strathclyde Law School through its Strathclyde Centre for Environmental Law and Governance hosted in Glasgow the 2018 instalment of the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law Annual Colloquium. Over five days the University Technology and Innovation Centre became a global hub of excellence in which international academics and practitioners joined to discuss how environmental law is transforming. In particular, the colloquium explored the role of law and governance in addressing the opportunities, challenges and risks posed by technology and innovation, in order to build resilience. Together with the Colloquium itself, which runned from Wednesday 4 to Friday 6 July 2018, the University of Strathclyde also hosted events organised by the Academy’s Teaching and Research Committee on Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 July 2018. IWRA’s Treasurer, Renée Martin-Nagle,presented her work on “Governance of Offshore Freshwater Resources”.
