The IWRA is pleased to announce that Istanbul, Türkiye will host the XX World Water Congress in 2027, the next edition of our flagship global event.
IWRA made the official announcement during the Closing Ceremony of the XIX World Water Congress in Marrakech, Morocco, 5 December 2025, counting with the presence of H.E. İbrahim Yumaklı, Minister, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Türkiye, as the global water community looked ahead to the next chapter of collaboration and exchange.
Since its first edition in 1971, the World Water Congress has grown into one of the world’s largest platforms linking water research, science, and policy, convening the international water community for five days of dialogue and exchange.
Hosting the XX Congress in Istanbul, a city shaped by water and located at the crossroads of continents, cultures, and traditions reflects the Congress’s role as a global meeting point for water resources management.
