Francesco Sindico focuses his work on international water law, an area in which he has published extensively, including a monograph on International Law and Transboundary Aquifers. He is Co-Chair of the IWRA Islands Water Congress International Scientific Committee. He also is Co-Chair of the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law Climate Change Law Specialist Group, and Director of the Climate Change Legal Initiative. From 2021 to 2024 he was seconded to the Scottish Government where he led the Carbon Neutral Islands project. He provides legal advice to governments and international organisations before international courts, including in the ongoing climate change proceedings before the International Court of Justice.
