Terms and Conditions of Use

1. General Information

IWRA’s XVII World Water Congress (“the XVII Congress”) is the international congress, organised by Daegu Metropolitan City, Korean Water Resources Association (KWRA) and K-water and supported by Ministry of Environment, on behalf of the International Water Resources Association (IWRA). It will be held from 29 November – 3 December 2021 at Daegu, Korea. Your use of www.worldwatercongress.com will always be subject to, at a minimum, the terms and conditions set out in this document. These are referred to as the “Master Terms.” In addition, your use of Website may also be subject to the terms of any legal notice applicable to the Website, in addition to the Master Terms. All such terms supplementing these Master Terms are referred to below as the “Additional Terms.” The Master Terms, together with any Additional Terms, form a binding legal agreement between you and the XVII Congress in relation to your use of the Website. Collectively, this legal agreement is referred to below as the “Terms.” If there is any contradiction between the Additional Terms and the Master Terms, then the Additional Terms shall take precedence in relation to the Website to which the Additional Terms apply.

2. Your Agreement to the Terms

Your access or use of www.worldwatercongress.com in any way signifies that you have read, understand and agree to be bound by the terms. By accessing or using www.worldwatercongress.com you also represent that you have the legal authority to accept the Terms on behalf of yourself and any party you represent in connection with your use of Website. If you do not agree to the Terms, you are not authorised to use Website.

3. Changes to the Terms

The XVII Congress may change, remove, add to modify the Terms, and reserves the right to do so in its discretion. In that case, we will post the updated Master Terms or Additional Terms, as relevant, to the Website and indicate the date of revision. We may send a message to your email address, or we may display a notice on the Website indicating that the Terms have changed. All amended Terms take effect immediately. If you do not agree with any modification to the Terms, you may terminate this agreement by ceasing use of the Website. Your continued use of Website after revised Terms are effective indicate that you have read, understood and agreed to those Terms.

4. Provision of the Website

The XVII Congress makes the Website available to you on the Terms. You may only use the Website in accordance with these Master Terms and any applicable Additional Terms. In particular but without limitation, you may not use the Website for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by these Master Terms, any applicable Additional Terms, or any other conditions or notices that are made available on any Website.

5. Location of the Website

The Website Services are controlled and offered by the XVII Congress from its facilities in the Korea. The XVII Congress makes no representations that the Website is appropriate or available for use in other locations. If you are accessing or using any Website from other jurisdictions, you do so at your own risk and you are responsible for compliance with local law.

6. Registered Users

By registering for an account on the Website, you can submit the abstract for presentation, registration with one ID created for the XVII Congress. The XVII Congress reserves the right to modify or discontinue the accounts of Registered Users and related Services at any time. The XVII Congress disclaims any and all liability to Registered Users.

7. Privacy Policy

The XVII Congress is committed to handling responsibly the information and data we collect through our Website and agrees to use your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Policy and the Terms. The Privacy Policy is hereby incorporated by reference into these Master Terms.

8. Copyright Complaints

The XVII Congress respects the intellectual property rights of others, and we prohibit users of our Website from submitting, uploading, posting or otherwise transmitting any materials that violate another person’s intellectual property rights.

Privacy Policy

The IWRA’s XVII World Water Congress Organising Committee (“the XVII Congress”) takes your privacy seriously and is committed to protecting your privacy rights. This “Privacy & Data Use Policy” explains the collection, use, and disclosure of “personal information” by the XVII Congress, through the congress website, mobile apps, communications by email and through social media, by telephone and in person. In accordance to the law regarding the PROMOTION OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK UTILIZATION AND INFORMATION PROTECTION enforced on 25 June 2019 and legislated to prevent the misuse and abuse of personal information on the Internet, this Privacy Policy also explains our commitment to you with respect to our use and disclosure of the personal information that the XVII congress organising committee collects from you. That commitment is contained in a “Data Usage Policy,” below. As used in this policy, “personal information” means information that would allow a party to identify you, for example, your name, address or location and email address.

The XVII congress collects personal information in order to provide better services to its users. By using our websites, applications and other products and services, you agree that we may collect, hold, use or otherwise process your information (including personal information) for the purpose of providing you with those products, services.

1. Purpose of Collection and Use of Personal Information

We collect information solely for the purpose of providing services to participants and facilitating our communication with them. We do not collect or use personal information for any other purposes. The personal information you provide us makes it possible for us to deliver, based on it, more useful information selectively.
Visitors to our Website. When someone visits www.worldwatercongress.com we use a third-party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website. If we do want to collect personally identifiable information through our website, we will be explicit about this. Emails and Newsletters. We use the personal information you provide us when you receive our newsletter in order to respond to your request, to reply to your email or to send you communications about news and events related to the XVII Congress. When you subscribe to our newsletter, your name and email address is sent to and stored by the XVII Congress (www.worldwatercongress.com).
Website Users. When you register to obtain a user account on www.worldwatercongress.com, you may be asked to provide personal information to create your account and establish a password and profile. Providing your email address and/or real name is required. Your personal information will be used for the paper submission, exhibition application and congress online registration when you apply for it. If you do provide your email address, it will allow us to send you your password when you forget it. We will also use that personal information to establish and maintain your membership and provide you with the features we provide for Registered Users, and for the purpose of contacting you about upcoming news, results of abstract submission and request further information. We will also facilitate your email address in order to identify your IWRA membership status when you make a payment for congress registration. Based on your application for the tour programme and dietary requirement, your information will be used organising it.
Third Party Service Providers working on our behalf: We may pass your information to our third party service providers, agents, subcontractors and other associated organisations for the purposes of completing tasks and providing services to you on our behalf (for example to process website payments, or to mail you any updates etc). However, when we use third party service providers, we disclose only the personal information that is necessary to deliver the service and we are putting in place contracts that require them to keep your information secure and not to use it for their own direct marketing purposes. Any other personal information that we may collect which is not described specifically in this Privacy Policy will only be collected and used in accordance with the Principles. When the range, purpose, and use of the information collected by us change, we will make sure to notify you and ask for their consent beforehand.

2. Range of Personal Information

Only the minimum amount of information reasonably necessary to provide you with services should be collected and maintained, and only for so long as reasonably needed or required; This includes your name, e-mail including second e-mail, postal code and address, phone numbers and affiliations.

3. Maintenance and Disuse of Personal Information

Information you provide us through our website, or that we gather as a result of your use of our website, should not be used for marketing or advertising purposes, nor should it be provided voluntarily (without your permission) to anyone else unless required. The XVII Congress will continue to maintain and manage your personal information as long as we continue to receive your information about abstract submission, registration, updates related to the XVII Congress. We will maintain and protect all personal information during the use of our services. Also, when you cancel your membership by request for de-registration, all personal information you provide us will be permanently deleted from our database, ensuring that the opening or use of such information for any purposes is no longer possible. After the period of our service, the collected personal information will be transferred to International Water Resources Association and it will follow their Privacy & Data Use Policy. 4. Security Management for Personal information

The XVII Congress has implemented reasonable measures to protect against unauthorised access and unlawful interception or processing of personal information. However, no website can fully eliminate security risks. We will post a reasonably prominent notice to the website if any such security breach occurs.

5. Changes and Updates to this Privacy Policy

We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will also revise the Effective Date below. We encourage you to periodically review this Privacy Policy to stay informed about how we are protecting the personal information we collect. Your continued use of the website constitutes your agreement to this Privacy Policy and any updates.

6. Responsibility for Security Breach

Participants are responsible for the security of the passwords for their congress accounts. The XVII Congress never asks you for your password, either through mail or any other methods. Under no circumstances should you ever disclose your password. We ask that you pay particular attention when you are logged in, in order to ensure that your personal information is not divulged to others.
