AM9. AWM, WATER SCARCITY AND DROUGHTS
Moderators: Jun Xia, President of IWRA, China and Naim Haie, University of Minho, Portugal Jawad Al-Bakri, Land, Water and Environment Department, University of Jordan

The session will discuss adaptive governance and management approaches for dealing with water scarcity and extreme droughts. Contributions are invited that address the need for multi-level policy making, governance and management as well as the economics of water scarcity, drought and AWM. Another important issue is the combined management of ground- and surface water and the role of adaptive governance and management approaches to deal with the major uncertainties associated with such an integrated approach. Studies of efficiencies, productivities and vulnerabilities as related to the management of water and other water related (scarce) resources such as energy under uncertain futures are also very welcome.
