KS6. WATER MANAGEMENT IMPACTS FROM OUTSIDE THE WATER SECTOR
Moderator: Rosa Maria Formiga Johnsson, State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Many drivers of change from outside the water sector will have increasingly marked impacts on water management. Trends in population growth, urbanization, immigration, aging, changes in diet and diseases will impact on water management in unforeseen ways, while developments in trade relations, patterns of energy generation, fluctuating commodity prices and advances in biotechnology are drivers that are seldom explicitly addressed in water policy and planning. This session invites innovative research on these and other drivers and the uncertainties surrounding their impact on water management.
