In recent decades China has been experiencing both rapid economic and population growth as well as increased urbanization.  The process has stressed China’s water resources to create severe shortages.  On top of this, climate change puts additional stress on the already delicate water balance by changing the spatial and temporal distribution of precipitation.  More frequently occurring weather extremes (droughts, heat waves and floods) threaten the country’s water supply, agricultural and industrial production.  To respond to these challenges, academics and practitioners from both within and outside China give their own thinking and solutions out of their expertise and relate to good stories on China’s latest philosophy, policy initiatives and prospects in the field of water resources management.

Topics include:

  • China’s Innovative Water Resources Management and Green Development
  • Managing Water Resources for Steady Socioeconomic Growth
  • Water-Energy-Food Nexus in China
  • Strategic Water Management in China-Insights from International Experience
  • China’s Water Ecological Environmental Protection Strategies
  • China’s Groundwater Management Strategies
